Today is the release of WELCOME TO THE OTHER SIDE Blu-Ray&CD and Vinyl.

 

The 2020 New Years Eve VR concert from virtual Notre-Dame took place when the world was in lockdown, we were all living in isolation, confined to our homes which became the central hub of our lives and the only space we had to maintain some form of normality.

 

Where work, family, love, leisure and play was all contained inside those four walls.

 

We shared and interacted with the ‘outside’ world via our screens.

 

As a musician, performer and creator of concert events, like all my peers, I needed to create, to perform and share, that’s the only vocation I know.

 

Notre-Dame in Paris is one of the most visited sites for tourists across the globe – it seemed a perfect setting for a New Year’s Eve invitation to travel and celebrate...even if it was just virtually.

 

Eventually the concert was seen by 75Mio viewers from around the world.

 

Today it is released together with an in depth behind The Scenes and MasterClass.

The concert by now has been awarded with the prestigious Pollstar award in the US and Social Music Award in France for most innovative Live Performance and Virtual Live Performance of the Year.

 

It's been seen by over 75 Mio. viewers during its Live Stream on New Years Eve of 2020 and topped the charts as most viewed concert worldwide that night.

Pionier muzyki elektronicznej Jean-Michel Jarre zapowiada swój 22. album studyjny oraz jeden z jego najbardziej ambitnych projektów.

 

 

„OXYMORE” ukaże się 21 października.

 

 

 

Album został stworzony jako immersyjne dzieło w wielokanałowej i binauralnej wersji 3D.

Wielokanałowy dźwięk zrewolucjonizuje sposób komponowania, miksowania i produkcji muzyki, rozmieszczając dźwięki i tekstury w przestrzeni w 360 stopniach.

Może być bez problemu odebrany przez każdego słuchacza ze słuchawkami.

„OXYMORE” jest pierwszym komercyjnym wydaniem tego formatu, które przenosi przyszłość muzycznego audio i dźwięku na zupełnie nowy poziom.

W ramach wciągającego projektu Jarre uruchomi również „OXYVILLE”, świat VR, który towarzyszy wydaniu albumu: „«OXYVILLE» będzie wirtualnym miastem muzycznym, do którego w przyszłości zaproszę innych artystów, a także poprowadzę kursy mistrzowskie i inne wydarzenia.

Chcę, żeby stała się piaskownicą dla nowych doznań muzycznych”, wyjaśnia.

Innowacje nie są mu obce, jeśli chodzi o VR i metawersum.

W Sylwestra Jarre zaprezentował „Welcome to the Other Side” – przełomową światową transmisję na żywo z wirtualnej paryskiej Notre Dame.

Magazyn „Pollstar” podał, że transmisja na żywo przyciągnęła rekordową widownię: ponad 75 milionów widzów z całego świata, którzy dołączyli do Jarre’a za pomocą różnych platform, telewizji i VR.

Podczas procesu twórczego „OXYMORE”, Jarre wykonał w murach Maison de la Radio w Paryżu wczesną wersję kompozycji w fizycznym, przestrzennym dźwięku 360 stopni.

W tym niezapomnianym występie wzięli udział nieliczny szczęśliwcy, którzy podczas eventu zostali poproszeni o zamknięcie oczu i całkowite zanurzenie się w muzyce.

„OXYMORE” został uznany za „oeuvre majeure” – wysokiej rangi dzieło w repertuarze Jarre’a.

Koncert był również dostępny w social VR w czasie rzeczywistym i został okrzyknięty przez ekspertów oraz media jako jeden z najbardziej innowacyjnych występów muzycznych.

Kent Bye z podcastu „Voices of VR” podsumował: „Możliwe, że «OXYMORE» jest 4-5 lat przed metawersem, o którym myśli Meta (Facebook)”.

Jean-Michel Jarre od zawsze był futurystą.

Kompozytor, wykonawca, producent i ambasador kultury w trakcie swojej całej znakomitej kariery, nieustannie wkracza z muzyką i mistrzowskiemu opanowaniu innowacji na nowe tereny.

Od bycia pionierem w muzyce elektronicznej, przez wykorzystanie wielokanałowej technologii audio i produkcji, po ostatnie eksploracje w sferze wydajności VR i metawersum, technologia jest na czele wszystkiego, co robi.

Twierdzi, że „dziś jest najbardziej ekscytujący czas na tworzenie muzyki i dzielenie się nią w tak wielu mediach”.

Jarre jest ambasadorem ONZ UNESCO, bezwarunkowym obrońcą praw autorskich, obrońcą środowiska, a także laureatem Medalu Stephena Hawkinga.

Aktualny katalog Jarre’a, który od czasu „Oxygène” obejmuje 21 albumów studyjnych, wygenerował sprzedaż na całym świecie przekraczającą 85 milionów i przyniósł mu niezliczone nagrody i nominacje.

Przez całą swoją karierę Jarre traktuje najbardziej charakterystyczne zabytki i miejsca światowego dziedzictwa UNESCO na całym świecie jako płótno, które ma kreatywne, kulturowe i środowiskowe przesłanie.

Ustanowił także nowe rekordy Guinnessa pod względem frekwencji publiczności w koncertach na żywo zagranych w kilku symbolicznych miejscach.

Był pierwszym zachodnim muzykiem, którego zaproszono do występów w Chinach, grał koncerty przy Wielkich Piramidach w Egipcie, na Saharze, w Zakazanym Mieście i na Placu Niebiańskiego Spokoju, z panoramą Houston, na Wieży Eiffle’a, Morzu Martwym, Al Ula i nie tylko.

BMG acquires Jean-Michel Jarre's entire publishing catalogue

BMG is delighted to announce it has acquired the entire music publishing back catalogue of French electronic music pioneer Jean-Michel Jarre.

The deal brings rights in groundbreaking classics such as Oxygene and Equinoxe together with Jarre’s writer’s income stream.

The company previously acquired the sound recordings of Jarre’s first three albums when it bought noted independent record label Francis Dreyfus Music in 2012.

BMG CEO Hartwig Masuch said, “Jean-Michel Jarre is not only a ground-breaking pioneer in electronic music, he is a polymath and a shining ambassador for culture and internationalism.

Nearly fifty years after Oxygene burst upon the world, we are delighted to build on our longstanding relationship to become custodians of his music publishing rights.”

Jean-Michel Jarre said: “This partnership with BMG means a lot to me.

Hartwig Masuch and the entire team have been part of my family for many years.

Moreover, I am pleased that my publishing back catalogue is sheltered here in Europe and that my work will continue to grow in such good hands.

Today is a new start allowing me to develop fresh ideas and giving me the means to explore new territories.

Together we will thrive.”

Jean-Michel Jarre has generated 85m album sales over his career and holds numerous world records for his live concert spectaculars which have attracted some of the biggest audiences in human history, including the Paris Bastille Day concert 1979 (1m people), Houston 1986 (1.3m people), Paris-La Défense 1990 (2.5m people) and Moscow 1997 (3.5m people).

Jarre was also the first Western musician to ever perform in China in 1981; he returned in 2004 upon invitation again to play the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square live on national television.

More recently, the live stream of his 2020 VR concert Welcome To The Other Side, live from Virtual Notre Dame de Paris, attracted 75m people.

He has released 21 studio albums including the 1976 breakthrough Oxygene, its 1978 follow-up Equinoxe and 1981’s Magnetic Fields, one of the first records to use a sampler.

Jarre’s commitment to technology has influenced generations of artists, many of whom he has collaborated with including Moby, Armin van Buuren, Robert ‘3D’ Del Naja, Edgar Froese, Laurie Anderson, Gesaffelstein, the Pet Shop Boys, Gary Numan and Hans Zimmer.

His latest album Amazonia, the score to an exhibition by legendary photographer Sebastião Salgado was released in 2021 to pay tribute to the Amazonian Forest, its inhabitants, and the threats they face.

Always pushing technology’s boundaries, Jean-Michel Jarre recently performed his new immersive live project, Oxymore, at Radio France’s Hyper Weekend Festival.

Maximilian Kolb, BMG EVP Repertoire & Marketing Continental Europe, said, “The dizzying range of Jean-Michel Jarre’s creativity spans six decades.

We are committed to not only spotlighting it to his existing international fanbase, but also introducing it to new generations.”

Jean-Michel Jarre has been honored across the globe with multiple awards and distinctions.

He is a longstanding United Nations ambassador and spokesperson for UNESCO and recipient of the Stephen Hawking Medal for Science Communication.

In 2021, he was awarded with the rank of Commander of the Légion d'Honneur by President Emmanuel Macron.

Jarre is a long-time advocate of creator rights having served as spokesman for international record company lobby group the IFPI and President of CISAC, the international federation of authors’ societies.

He currently chairs the Council for Strategy and Innovation at French authors’ society SACEM.

Throughout his career, he has relentlessly continued to push the boundaries with his music and his creative innovation.

He is one of the most influential French artists in music history.

The deal was brokered for Jean-Michel Jarre by Catalogue Associates Limited, assisted and advised by Maximilien Jazani Esq.
