Andreas Vollenweider - Montrööt (Live At Rockpalast 1982) (Loreley Open Air) Andreas Vollenweider climbed the Lorelei rock. Not to enjoy the beautiful view of the river Rhine and not to be seduced by Lore Lay, the enchantress, whose beauty, according to the legend, would inevitably have led to his death. Rather, he wanted to give a breathtaking concert with his "Friends" (Walter Keiser - drums, percussions and Pedro Haldemann - percussions) on the evening of August 29, 1982 on the stage of the beautiful open-air theater. By the way: Achim Reichel was also there that day, as well as the British reggae stars UB 40. In 1982, the extraordinary career of the then 28-year-old Andreas Vollenweider was just beginning. A year earlier he had released his album "Behind The Gardens - Behind The Wall - Under The Tree". A mega-success, worldwide. With his unmistakable, unique style, his very colorful, dynamic music, also characterized by the variety of exotic timbres, Vollenweider inspired an audience of millions in a short time. Together with his fellow musicians, he succeeds in creating this magic at the Lorelei Rock and captivating the audience with his music. The legendary Lore Lay could lean back, her magic skills were not needed. That was done by master of ceremonies Vollenweider himself, together with his two "assistants": they (musically) enchanted the audience. A small novelty: For whatever reason, this Rockpalast was never broadcast. So, it's all the more gratifying that it's now available, in excellent audio and video quality. Here's yesterday's official announcement for the Vangelis remastered 666 release: Widely discussed as the finest progressive-rock album of all time, 666, from Aphrodite’s Child (Vangelis, Demis Roussos, Loukas Sideras, and Anargyros 'Silver' Koulouris) is now available to order on deluxe, limited-edition red vinyl, as well as in a 4-CD/1-Blu-Ray package, featuring previously unavailable interview footage explaining the album’s creative process. Also included on the CD / Blu-ray version are the widely-unheard Greek mixes, plus a lavishly-illustrated booklet and further original interviews. It sounds stronger without compromising the original recording. There is no issue with added reverbs or over compression. I can't wait to hear the rest of the tracks. Aphrodite's Child - 666 (The Apocalypse Of John, 13/18) 4CD + Blu-Ray Originally released in 1972 by Greek band Aphrodite’s Child, ‘666 - The Apocalypse Of John’ is one of the most controversial, ambitious, exotic and lauded progressive rock albums of all time. Composed by Vangelis, with lyrics written by Costas Ferris, it is a conceptual double album that was hailed upon its release as “a work of stunning complexity and originality” and is the crowning moment in the career of Aphrodite’s Child, a group which also featured the outstanding talent of Demis Roussos (vocals, bass guitar), later an internationally renowned vocalist and solo artist, along with the gifted musicians Silver Koulouris (lead guitar) and Lucas Sideras (drums, vocals). Featuring material such as ‘The Four Horsemen’, ‘Aegian Sea’, ‘Babylon’, ‘Do It’, ‘The Beast’ and ‘All the Seats Were Occupied’, this album’s renown has grown steadily over the decades, influencing successive generations of musicians. The 4-CD / 1 Blu-Ray set contains audio remastered versions of the original album mix and the rare 1974 Greek LP mix (which featured considerably different mixes to the original LP release). The Blu Ray disc features a 96 kHz / 24-bit Atmos and 5.1 up mixes and stereo mix, all of which were overseen by Vangelis. The Blu-Ray also contains bonus video content of a 28-minute episode of the French television show Discorama from June 1972 featuring Vangelis performing in the television studio and talking about the album (with English subtitles added). This set also includes a lavishly illustrated book featuring a new essay and original interviews with the band plus many previously unseen photographs that Vangelis sourced from his various archives around Europe not long before his sad passing in May 2022. "666" reissue and box set to be announced tomorrow Tomorrow September 5, Universal Music will be announcing the upcoming re-release of Aphrodite's Child magnum opus double album release "666". Sources close to Vangelis' estate confirmed to us that the work will be available on double LPs in two different versions, one of them pressed on red vinyl, as a 4CD box that contains both the international and the alternative mix release in Greece, and finally as a 4CD + Blu-ray version, where the blu-ray contains a Dolby Atmos mix and interview material from the time, as well as a new book about the release. Note that while some sources seem to be listing a track list without the famous and controversial track named by the infinity symbol, the track really should be part of the release, as Vangelis was unwilling to remaster the album if it was not complete. Vangelis personally oversaw the remastering process, assisted by Philippe Colonna. We will learn more details tomorrow, September 5, when the official announcement is made. On the same day the track "The Four Horsemen" will be pre-released on most digital channels.
