"I have always felt we all must respect the providence of the Universe.

Unfortunately, through the course of time and the growth of civilization, many living creatures that we now know will become extinct.

If we don't alter how we treat each other and our planet Earth, many habitats and portions of this earth may become devastated and eventually disappear.

This album is the story of an epic voyage...

A voyage of hope that all living creatures can someday live happily in harmony with each other.

The story begins from where we board for departure." - Kitaro on his album Final Call

Did you know? :)

The piano on the cover of Kitaro's Grammy Winning Album 'Thinking of You' is modeled after Kitaro's own piano that got ruined after being covered in water due to frozen water pipes bursting one cold day.

He still has a few black keys from that piano.

'Gaia loosely translates to Goddess of the Earth or Mother Earth and Onbashira is a festival that occurs every seven years in Japan.

During the Onbashira festival, eight individuals are chosen for spiritually cleansing.

The participants ascend a mountain and attempt to spiritually connect with the heavens through the trees.

These trees are then allowed to fall down the mountain and eventually become posts and the foundation of a ceremonial shrine.'

What's an ancient tradition in your country?

Kitaro in Shikoku, Japan :)

Shikoku is famous for udon, the Awa Dance Festival, and the 88-temple pilgrimage associated with the Buddhist monk Ku-kai, which inspired Kitaro's 'Sacred Journey of Ku-kai' series :)
